Every day, 6 Singaporeans are diagnosed with a blood disease. Most of them will die without a bone marrow transplant but there is only a 1 in 20 000 chance of finding a perfect bone marrow match. Unfortunately, there are also many misconceptions regarding bone marrow donations and this deprives many of these disease-stricken people of their only chance of a life-saving cure. We, at SGMarrow, aim to change this. In collaboration with the Bone Marrow Donor Programme, we have held drives around NTU and NUS, collecting more than 2000 swabs to add to the bone marrow donor registry.
