Elderweiss

Project Elderweiss, a project in collaboration with SARAH Active Ageing Centre, aims to reach out to socially isolated senior residents in the rental blocks of Jalan Bukit Merah.

Formed in the year 2021 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, this project hopes to provide both residents of Jln Bukit Merah and students of LKC a platform for meaningful connection and memory-building. Through different activities such as exercise sessions, karaoke, and specialised workshops, we build deeper bonds with the senior residents. Furthermore, as we further build rapport, we look for ways to empower these residents to take charge of their health and improve their lifestyles, be it through learning simple exercises, eating healthier food or attending doctors’ appointments more regularly.

Volunteers are placed into groups of 3, with each group being attached to two residents. The grouping stays the same throughout the year.

Over the course of a year, groups will build rapport with their senior citizens, plan and conduct different activities, and more importantly, make great memories together :)
