About Teddy Bear Hospital

Our project is run by medical students from both NTU LKCSoM and NUS YLLSoM, and is proudly supported by NUH! We visit preschools, where we run medicine and health stations for kindergarten kids to alleviate their white coat anxiety and increase their health awareness! We have 2 separate cycles every year — 1 in June and 1 in December! Each cycle, we run 6-8 sessions, with each session lasting 2 hours.

Summer Cycle 2025

This June, we visited 5 different preschools over the span of 7 sessions. With the help of our dedicated committee members and volunteers from both medical schools, we successfully ran our 6 stations - soothing the kids’ white coat anxiety and inculcating good healthy habits, all while forging good memories for them along the way!

The 6 stations we ran this summer cycle include:

Teddy’s Surgery - The kids got to learn more about the different vital organs, their specific functions, as well as surgeries using an interactive teddy bear filled with crocheted organs

Help Teddy Breathe - Using balloon models, we taught the kids more about our lungs and how we breathe, and we introduced them to the use of stethoscopes to listen to the heart and the lungs

Overall, it was a fruitful and productive summer cycle for Teddy Bear Hospital! The Teddy Bear Hospital committee is immensely thankful for the 5 preschools that opened up to include us in their curriculum, the dedication of every volunteer that took time to help out, and for the joy, laughter and good memories every kid brought to us this summer!
