Project Soleil aims to raise awareness on Motor Neurone Diseases (MNDs), and serve afflicted communities within Singapore.

ABOUT US

Motor Neurone Diseases (MNDs) slowly takes away a person’s ability to move, speak, and even breathe. It’s a devastating condition with no cure, where care and support can make all the difference. Project Soleil exists to explore the struggles of those afflicted with the disease, and strives to deliver community, dignity and support.

Founded in 2021, Project Soleil works in close collaboration with the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDa) of Singapore and the Tan Tock Seng Home Ventilatory and Respiratory Services (HVRSS) team. Members are offered the opportunity to join and co-plan MNDa monthly outings, as well as shadow HVRSS on home vists, enabling students to glean first-hand insights into the lived realities of MND and how medical care extends beyond the clinic to transform lives.

Over the years, our initiatives have included clinical seminars with the National Neuroscience Institute (NNI), human library sessions, and passion projects to help MND warriors fulfil their final wishes. Together with NNI and MNDa, Project Soleil has also co-authored a patient-friendly guidebook on the clinical aspects of MND to support patients and caregivers via improving informational access.

Moving forward, Project Soleil is exploring the provision of PCEye devices, which enable communication and digital access through eye-tracking technology, and the development of a second guidebook focused on coping with difficult diagnoses..
