Project Bantayan aims to raise health literacy and accessibility on Bantayan Island sustainably.

ABOUT US
Project Bantayan collaborates with Dr Samantha Tinsay to serve the underprivileged communities of Bantayan Island in Cebu, Philippines. Our ultimate goal is self-sustainable community health, meaning the impact remains even when we are not on the island.
Health Education
One way in which we aim to raise awareness is through inculcating good practices in students starting from a young age. Key topics in our health education programs for elementary and high school students include nutrition and sexual health.
Medical Missions
We also assist with medical missions (health screenings) at a barangay (village) level. These comprise of a dental station, labs, medical consultation, and a unique chest X-ray station assisted by AI for the detection of tuberculosis, which is endemic in Bantayan and the Philippines. Through this, we aim to improve healthcare access to the more underserved barangays, promoting early detection and management of diseases.
Workshops for Barangay Health Workers (BHWs)
BHWs are the first point of contact for residents seeking medical care, as they manage barangay health stations and conduct household visits to follow up with patients. As such, we hope to upskill the BHWs, allowing them to better serve the residents even when we are not there.
