In liaison with various partners within NHG to support student volunteerism in initiatives that bridge the gap between healthcare services and the population.

ABOUT US
NHG-LKC Commhealth is a student-led project that aims to provide students with opportunities to contribute to community healthcare initiatives, while also picking up valuable skill sets and interacting with residents.
We organise interactive Hokkien lessons that cover basic conversational Hokkien and medical vocabulary, taught by professional language coaches from Inksmith. Lessons are taught in English and are open to Year 1 & 2 LKC Medicine students. Having basic dialect proficiency will greatly aid during volunteering and clinicals years alike.
Since our work aims to support the current community programmes organised by our NHG partners, we actively participate in initiatives such as health screenings, elderly befriending etc. Students will have the chance to practise their communication and language skills, and also contribute to community health. Our project flexibility also gives members the opportunity to reach out to organisations the project has not yet worked with and take part in other initiatives of interest.
Through these experiences, NHG-LKC Commhealth hopes to inspire a generation of compassionate, community-oriented doctors who value the importance of communication, empathy and cultural sensitivity in healthcare delivery.
