Project EnVision

Smartphones have become such an integral part of our lives. Yet for the Visually Impaired (VI), using these mobile devices is no easy feat. There are screen readers like TalkBack and VoiceOver, as well as other accessibility features, that could enable VIs to use smartphones independently.

In partnership with SAVH, Project EnVision aims to ease VIs into these systems by organising one-to-one sessions where student volunteers are paired with VI clients. Through this form of support, we hope to empower VIs to become fully independent in their technology usage.

Currently, we are also looking at other ideas such as conducting a health screening at SAVH and SAVH Dining in the Dark. We may also expand our IT Training (currently focused on smartphones) to computers in future! Exciting things are happening, so do join us if you’d love to serve in this amazing cause :)
