Project Soleil

After hearing the story of a patient with motor neurone disease (MND), Project Soleil was established in 2021 by a group of M2s.

In collaboration with the TTSH HVRSS (Home Ventilation and Respiratory Support Service) team and MNDa (Motor Neuron Disease Association), Project Soleil organises home visits for our members to better understand the struggles and needs of MND patients through communicating with them and their caregivers. In these visits, we assess their home environment, identify and refer those who need more assistance, and befriend them.

Project Soleil is currently working on a comprehensive guidebook, which will cover the sciences and symptoms of MND, the services and support MND patients can access, financial aspects of MND and what to expect in the course of the disease. We hope it can empower MND patients and their caregivers to better navigate and cope with their conditions.

Looking long term, we will continue our regular home visits with added components of interactivity. For example, we hope to find activities we can do with the patients, teach them how to use the Tobii eye tracking devices, and help facilitate the creation of legacy projects for patients to leave behind.
